E-Day 2010: An Exercise In Patience and Tolerance

Today, May 10, 2010, was the first automated elections in our country.  We exercised our right to vote for our government officials who will lead our country.  But most importantly, election day 2010 was an exercise in extreme patience and tolerance.

I weaved in and out of long lines and crowds just to get to the voter's list where you find the cluster and precint number.

People waited for long hours in long lines just to be able to vote.  I joined the long line of disgruntled voters and stood in line under the heat of the sun for two hours but nothing happened.  The line didn't even move an inch.  Unable to bear the oppressive heat, I went home.

I went back to the polling precint at 2:30 in the afternoon.  It wasn't that hot anymore; the lines were shorter.  My waiting time was an hour and thirty minutes before I was able to enter the polling precint.  I was voter number 1_2, in precint 60-A, cluster precint 73!  Yehey!  It was over in less than 10 minutes.

I'm happy that I decided to go back and chose to be part of history.
