Get Off Your Feet and Stretch Your Legs!!

Recent studies have shown that prolonged sitting can increase your risk to health problems or can even be deadly.

It really doesn't matter whether you are seated behind an office desk, in front of a computer monitor, whether you are in school, or on a long flight aboard an Airbus - what matters is the overall number of hours that you are seated.  Being sedentary or inactive for long periods of time will inevitably lead to increase in weight because the body is not burning off the calories that are consumed during the day.
Even if you stick to an exercise routine and eat a healthy diet of veggies and fruits, if most of your day is spent sitting down , you could still be at a high risk for cardiac problems and even cancer.

A Canadian study (Pennington Biomedical Research Center)  states that sitting for more than four hours is  deemed more dangerous.  They found that allowing the body to become sloppy can lead to a problematic production of lipase, the enzyme secreted by the pancreas that breaks down the fat molecules of your body.

Another study, which was recently published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, compared a group of office workers who were able to make frequent breaks, walk around and another group of office workers who were unable to walk around and most of the time remain seated in front of their desks.  The consensus was that there is a higher chance of developing a serious disease from this unhealthy habit of prolonged sitting.

These studies serve as a wake up call or even a warning for everybody --  let's get off our feet and off our bottom.

That's why I really got to stand up sometimes. I don't want to have back aches.
